If you love history and historical homes, Loudoun County is rich in it. There are currently more than 50 homes that are still preserved and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These are a testament to the past history of Loudoun – some of them are still occupied, some are museums, and some just simply exist.
History tells us that Loudoun County constitutes part of the five million acre Northern Neck of Virginia Proprietary granted by King Charles II of England to seven noblemen in 1649.
In 1757, by act of the Virginia House of Burgesses, Fairfax County was divided. The western portion was named Loudoun for John Campbell, Fourth Earl of Loudoun, a Scottish nobleman who served as Commander-in-Chief for all British armed forces in North America and honorary Governor of Virginia from 1756 to 1768. Leesburg has served continuously as the County Seat since 1757.
Settling in Loudoun began in 1725 to 1730. The lower portion of Loudoun was being established as large tobacco plantations.
Loudoun was known for its agricultural business and an area where the rich came to vacation (away from the hot city, DC), however in the 1960’s a shift began. Dulles International Airport was built and the airport attracted new businesses, workers and their families to the area. Roads began to be built and the rest is modern history!
Loudoun is now home to more than 363,050 people (2014 Census) and our history will only continue to grow. We can only hope to leave a piece of history for those looking back on us 300 years from today.
As you can see, Loudoun’s history is almost 300 years old, and we are fortunate enough to have homes that still exist to tell the story of settlers that started what we call home today.

Earlier this month the JS Realty Team at Samson Properties provided a 
the previous year and units sold are also up +16.88%. The percentages are obviously not as large when compared to Brambleton, but keep in mind we are looking at Loudoun County as a whole, not just one of its most popular subdivisions. When you compare average days on the market in Loudoun County to the previous year you will see a modest increase from 58 in 2014 to 81 in 2015. This can be mostly attributed to the increase in inventory from the year before – classic “supply and demand”. Overall, similar to Brambleton, the whole county is experiencing a market that is on the move in a positive way.
We expect this positive market to continue for the foreseeable future. The JS Realty Team has stayed busy helping our clients achieve their goals through the buying and selling of homes. Summer is just a few weeks away and one thing we love during the summer is delicious BBQ! We asked roughly 150 Loudoun County residents to help us narrow down the BEST BBQ in our area. And after whittling it down to the Top 5, we then, of course, had to taste for ourselves! We grabbed our buddy Brian from 
This amazing, family owned BBQ joint is worth the drive, no matter where you live! The menu is simple – mouth-watering meats and house made sides. Sauces are also made fresh, from scratch and from local beers, wines, and spirits. They have 16 beers on tap and feature a full bar. Bonus: Bacon on a stick!! Thick, crispy, ham-like bacon… on a stick. Yum.
ResQ BBQ just opened their first location! They’ve taken over the concession stand at Evergreen Sportsplex and the unique outdoor location makes it feel like you’re at a backyard BBQ. Their menu features an assortment of sandwiches, snacks, and a flavorful, juicy brisket.
Tender and tasty BBQ for sure. They have a good selection of meats, salads, sandwiches, chili, and “house made” side items. Do yourself a favor and order the BBQ-Ranch Beans. Those alone are worth the trip! Bonus: 1/2 Price Ribs on Tuesdays from 4-9PM, craft beers and Lost Rhino Root Beer on-tap!
A true BBQ “Joint”! This true North Carolina BBQ meat is hickory smoked, and the pork, beef and chicken are hand-shredded. Ribs fall off the bone and there are a great selection of sauces. The menu is simple and straightforward. All the sides are “house made” and very tasty. Bonus: Amazing corn bread and fresh baked pie!
An interesting twist on the traditional. This new, locally owned and operated spot is where taco meets BBQ. The Pit Master smokes all the meat for about 12 hours, then hand pulls it. Besides being able to build your own taco, the menu features a yummy chili (a family recipe!), salad options, and kids meals. Bonus: There’s a bar! And all meats, sauces, and most ingredients are gluten free!
